Get KeisenVPA running in under 10 minutes

Requirements
KeisenVPA is a standalone desktop application. No Python or developer tools required.

Installation
Download and Install
Download the appropriate version for your platform:
- macOS (Apple Silicon) — M1, M2, M3, M4 Macs (2020+)
- Linux — Ubuntu 20.04+, Debian
On macOS, open the DMG and drag KeisenVPA to Applications. On Linux, make the AppImage executable and run it.
Install Whisper Services (Required)
Before you can use voice transcription, you must install the Whisper speech recognition model. Follow these steps:
- Open KeisenVPA
- Click the Settings button in the top-right corner
- In Settings, make sure you're on the "General" tab
- Find and click the "System Status" button
- Click on the "Services" tab
- Click "Install Whisper Services"
- Wait for the download to complete (this may take a few minutes)
Once installed, you'll see a confirmation. Voice transcription will not work until this step is complete.
Start Using KeisenVPA
That's it! You're ready to start transcribing. On macOS, you may need to right-click and select "Open" on first launch to bypass Gatekeeper.
API Setup (Optional)
All users can skip this section. KeisenVPA works out of the box — just download, install Whisper, and start using it. API setup is only for power users who want to use their own Anthropic API key.
Trial Mode
The 14-day free trial lets you evaluate KeisenVPA:
- Built-in API access — No Anthropic account or API key needed
- Core features — Transcription and standard document generation templates
- Usage limit — 500,000 tokens (~200+ clinical notes) over 14 days
Note: Creating and saving custom prompts requires a subscription.
Licensed Users
After purchasing a license, you get unlimited access via our HIPAA-compliant API, including custom prompt creation. Your license key unlocks full access automatically.
Power Users Only: Using Your Own API Key
This is completely optional and most users don't need this. If you prefer to use your own Anthropic API key (for custom rate limits or separate billing):
- Visit console.anthropic.com
- Create an account or sign in
- Navigate to API Keys and generate a new key
- In KeisenVPA, click the Settings button , then enter your key under API Key
Your First Transcription
When you launch KeisenVPA, you'll see the main window with three input options:
Choose your input method
KeisenVPA supports multiple ways to capture information:
- Voice recording — Click the microphone button to record and transcribe audio
- Screenshot — Capture your screen to extract text from images
- Text input — Paste or type text directly
Record or input your content
For voice input, click Record, speak naturally, then click Stop. The audio is transcribed locally using Whisper AI — your recordings never leave your device.
Generate a document
Click one of the quick-action buttons (H&P, SOAP Note, etc.) or type a custom prompt. Claude AI will transform your input into a structured document.
Copy and use
Click the copy button to grab the output and paste it into your EHR or document system.
